Background

Water, Growth and Stability (WGS) initiative is launched at 1st Water, Growth and Stability conference, co-organised on April 26-28, 2016, in Szentendre, Hungary, by the Regional Environmental Center (REC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary as a pre-event to the Budapest Water Summit 2016. WGS initiative is a milestone output of the REC project “Sustainable Use of Transboundary Water Resources and Water Security Management in the MENA region (WaterSUM)”, which is supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

Objectives

Second Water, Growth and Stability conference is organized with two main objectives, namely to:

  1. Launching WGS initiative fora
  2. Contribution of WaterSUM project to WGS Initiative

Working groups

Topical discussion on Second Water, Growth and Stability conference work will be organized in three working groups (WG):

  1. WG 1: Municipal Forum
  2. WG 2: Civil Society Organizations Forum
  3. WG 3: Women Forum
