The WGSIni will contribute to the Budapest Water Summit 2016 (November 28–30) with a special focus on the MENA region at the Civil Society Forum and via other channels.
Representatives of the MENA civil society organisations participating in the WGSIni’s Civil Society Forum will be invited to join the Budapest Water Summit Civil Forum to continue activities launched during the second Water, Growth and Stability conference in Tunisia.
Objectives of the Budapest Water Summit Civil Forum
The Civil Forum will be representative in both professional and thematic terms. Every effort will be made to ensure wide participation, making it possible to gather reflections on all session themes from an environmental, social and economic viewpoint.
The programme of the Civil Forum will run in parallel to the summit plenary session and the other forums, allowing stakeholder groups the opportunity to share and discuss their views.
The Civil Forum will offer written contributions to the topics of the summit sessions, for consideration in the Budapest Statement 2016.
Reflecting on issues discussed during the plenary session, the Civil Forum will examine water-related risks and challenges from a variety of aspects.
